Gemmo SpA official homepage  »  NEWS AREA  »  Serbia: Gemmo to provide support to Krupanj

The town, devastated by last may's floodings, will be aided with more than 130 new street lights

Arcugnano, July 21st, 2014 -  “A small contribution, representing our solidarity with the Serbian population affected by last spring’s flooding. In particular with the citizens of Krupanj, one of the several towns severely hit by the Yvette storm”. These are words from Mauro Gemmo, president of Gemmo Holding, during the delivery of more than 130 street lights by Gemmo and needed by Krupanj to restore the public lighting service in town.

Between May 14th and 18th 2014, heavy rain storms over the Balkans caused floodings and landslides that were powerful enough to wipe out entire villages, and caused the death of 62 people, while leaving thousands without a home. Serbia has been one of the most affected countries and Gemmo, being involved in a commercial partnership with Serbia’s government and being a specialist of the public lighting sector, felt right to contribute to the rebuilding in a way most appropriate to its experience and expertise.

Aleksandar Antic, the Serbian minister of Mines and Energy said: “We would like to express all of our gratitude for Gemmo’s assistance during these difficult times of natural disaster. All these contributions are essential for the rebuild of the affected areas”.
