Further assignment for the TGV Liège-Guillemins train station.

After being awarded the tender held by SNCB HOLDING for the design and implementation of the technological systems of the new Liège-Guillemins railway station, Gemmo, the only Italian company involved in the realization of the work designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, will also perform the activities of maintenance and operation of facilities for one year from today, the day the completion of the work is certified.

The train station of Liège-Guillemins

Officially opened on September 18, 2009, it is the largest in Europe, at 200 meters long, 73 meters wide and 40 meters high. The station is spread over five levels, with spaces reserved for the public, SNCB operations staff, commercial activities and a covered parking lot with a capacity of 800 cars. It accommodates about 36 thousand passengers a day and is considered a strategic node for the international high-speed rail network.

“This additional order represents a great achievement for Gemmo but also for the italian industrial landscape. In a little more than two years, we have accomplished an extraordinarily complex piece of plant engineering; our Engineering know-how combined with the use of state-of-the-art technology created ad hoc and the utmost attention on safety and energy conservation were the key factors that enabled us to win an international competition and obtain this additional assignment. We are proud to represent our country in this way,” commented Susanna Gemmo, president of Gemmo SpA.

Under the order, with a total final value of about 18 million euros from the initial 13.5 million euros, Gemmo was responsible for the design and construction of the facilities:

  • electrical (MV/LV substations, LV distribution, lighting, emergency and uninterruptible power supplies, UPS, architectural lighting);
  • mechanical (thermal, ventilation, air conditioning, air extraction, refrigeration)
  • plumbing and fire protection
  • fire detection, CCTV, access control, public information, time and radio
  • plant supervision with management application engineering on “Gemmo Sistemi” platform.
